Imagine your son or daughter wanting a new bicycle that they saw in the store.

You KNOW they want a new bicycle because their eyes light up every time they see it and they constantly talk about it.

This bicycle will be the largest purchase you’ve ever made for them and it’s not even in the budget, but you want to bless your child so you are willing to sacrifice and set aside money for a few months to make it possible.

So you plan a special day to take your kid to the store and surprise them with it.  You’re so excited to see their reaction.  You get to the store, head to the bicycle aisle and your child’s eyes light up once again, but as they realize what’s about to happen they say “Oh my!  I know this is an expensive bike.  The one I have now is sufficient.  Let’s not buy it.”

You’re immediately deflated.  You worked so hard to save up to get this and now they say they don’t want it?

I know this is a silly example and no child I’ve ever seen would do this.  At least not mine 🙂

However, don’t we do this with God all the time?  If we want to bless our own kids how much more does He want to bless us?

One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Ephesians 3:20
“Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams].”

This verse challenges my upper limits for sure.

You might be building your business because you want to get out of debt.  Think bigger!
Why not believe to pay off your and the rest of your family’s debts?

Maybe you started this business to quit your job and spend more time with your family.
Dream bigger!
What if you could do that AND completely fund that missionary you feel connected to?

I went to a conference a couple of weeks ago and the main speaker said something that challenged me.  She said during prayer one day the Lord told her to “Ask me for something that makes me look like God.”

We need to expand our thinking.  We need to believe bigger.
