Can you believe it’s the end of another year?
As 2017 wraps up it’s time to start thinking about 2018.
What do you want it to look like?
During my morning quiet time back in January 2009 I wrote these 6 little bullet points in my journal under the heading “My Dream Position:”
- Flexible Hours
- High Pay
- Work from Home
- Vacation time whenever I need it
- Great people to work with
- A cause, mission, vision I love and am passionate about
Our business was still in its infancy. I had no idea at the time whether or not it was going to work. So I was still checking out job websites and exploring other options. My dream was to be in business for myself, but I also had to make sure I could take care of my wife.
Fast forward to 2017 and I’ve been living this dream for several years now. I never had to go get a “real job” and our business has expanded every year since. It doesn’t look anything like it did back in 2009. I’m not quite at the 4 hour workweek, but I really can work as much or as little as I want to.
My wife and I just had our first child back in April and I can’t tell you how thankful I am to be able to be home and experience every single moment of his little life. My work fits into my lifestyle, not the other way around which is the case for most people.
What are your 6 bullet points?
Write them down.
After you’ve done that I encourage you to look at them often. There’s something about having a vision (more on that in a few days) that motivates us and keeps us headed in the right direction.
